The xAPI or Tin Can API standard is spreading at lightning speed. This standard records, processes, stores and exchanges data from learning experiences. It’s a technology that fits perfectly with current usage.

E-learning: xAPI standard.

The next generation of the SCORM format, xAPI is a technical specification that records a wide variety of learning experiences. It allows for the tracking of learning paths from any source.

This standard integrates, recognizes, communicates and records information from mobile learning, simulations, serious games, social learning, offline learning, collaborative learning, etc. All these experiences are recorded on a LRS (Learning Record Store) which is often integrated into an LMS. It is a system that adapts to all media and all smart and connected devices.

xAPI allows to obtain a lot of data about the training modules and their execution. It is possible, for example, to obtain several scores for the same module, to have the detail of the results or to know if the learner appreciated the module or not. This is a standard that can be likened to big data.

Thaleia XL, a tool that allows you to create e-learning content very simply

Thaleia XL is a unique solution that allows you to create training content in a few clicks. It is an automated, industrial approach to the creation of training screens such as input or questionnaires, by allowing to manage a database of screens and generate them automatically from a simple Excel file. By responding to the capitalization needs of companies, Thaleia™ facilitates the exploitation of the existing to create new training and knowledge assessment resources.

Thaleia implements various uses of xAPI:

Real-time SCORM / xAPI translation
For real-time tracking, the same data can be used in real time and in delayed time.
For synchronization between LRS
To ensure data continuity (JSON export)

→ xAPi: the new e-learning standard?

The technology is not yet fully democratized in all organizations practicing e-learning but it will become a global standard. Indeed, its capabilities are great and it perfectly meets the expectations of the market. Moreover, this new standard will force companies to train or create new jobs regarding data analysis, statistical processing, etc. The xAPI standard really changes the digital learning!
